She reminded me of Tris from Divergent, just a more magical version. I love the characters! Aislinn, otherwise know as Ash, is a strong, determined heroine that will not back down and will fight to protect those she loves. There are only a couple of authors whose books I have read that manage to use the most satisfying amounts of descriptiveness, not describing it in such detail that I feel quite bored, or not giving the story enough detail, Melissa Marr uses just the right amount. Her descriptiveness forces you picture the stunning images and sometimes gruesome images that are described in Wicked Lovely. The way the author writes makes Wicked Lovely a novel that is hard to put down, she has the most gorgeous way of writing. It kept me pleasantly surprised and the writing flowed at a comfortable pace, there were unexpected surprises that had my intrigue for the novel growing with every page.

The first page drew me in, it did have me quite confused and I kept re-reading the page, trying to understand what the fey words meant, however when I continued reading, the author explained what they meant and I was immediately catapulted in the magical story of Aislinn and the fey. I can safely say that Wicked Lovely is now one of my favourite reads and I will most definitely continue with the rest of the series.

It was an intriguing read that had me devouring the wondrous words printed on the inviting page. However, Wicked Lovely blew most of my September reads out of the water. Let me just say, the books I've read recently have been good, not great, but good, some downright disappointing. Suddenly none of the rules that have kept Aislinn safe are working anymore, and everything is on the line: her freedom her best friend, Seth her life everything.įaery intrigue, mortal love, and the clash of ancient rules and modern expectations swirl together in Melissa Marr's stunning twenty-first-century faery tale. He is determined that Aislinn will become the Summer Queen at any cost - regardless of her plans or desires. Keenan is the Summer King, who has sought his queen for nine centuries. Rule #1: Don't ever attract their attention. One of them, Keenan, who is equal parts terrifying and alluring, is trying to talk to her, asking questions Aislinn is afraid to answer. Rule #2: Don't speak to invisible faeries. Aislinn fears their cruelty - especially if they learn of her Sight - and wishes she were as blind to their presence as other teens. Powerful and dangerous, they walk hidden in the mortal world. Rule #3: Don't stare at invisible faeries.
